Accrued Interest

The amount of interest that has accumulated on a loan or other financial instrument since the principal investment or since the last payment, but has not yet been paid out.

For example, if an investor owns a bond that pays 5% annual interest semiannually, after 3 months they will have accrued 1.25% interest that has not yet been paid.
