Accredited Investor

An individual or entity that meets certain income, net worth, governance status, or professional experience requirements set by regulators and is therefore eligible to participate in unregistered private securities offerings that have high risks but also the potential for significant returns.

For example, an individual accredited investor may have earned income over $200,000 or net worth over $1 million and can invest in a private equity fund not registered with the SEC.
