Administrative Services Organization (ASO)

An arrangement where a company outsources administration of certain employee services like payroll, benefits, and HR tasks to a third-party provider but retains control and liability for plan funding, terms, and decisions.

For example, an employer could partner with an ASO to manage health plan enrollment and claims processing but the employer still directly pays for the plan expenses.
