Captive Funds

Privately managed investment funds that are exclusively available to a restricted group of investors, usually employees of an organization or investors affiliated with the firm managing the captive fund, which provides investment management services solely for that select group.

For example, a corporation could establish a captive fund for employees to invest portions of their 401k retirement savings.
