Licensing Fee

Money paid by one party (the licensee) to another party (the licensor) for the right to legally access, use, or leverage assets such as intellectual property, products, or services owned by the licensor for commercial purposes over an agreed term.

For example, a manufacturer pays the owner of a patented technology a fee for the license to use that protected process in its production lines.
